NAEGLE, Conrad Keeler

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, July 29, 2003 Conrad Keeler Naegle, 84, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2003 after a short illness. We will miss him greatly and cherish the wonderful memories of a caring and loving, devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Conrad's faith, strength of character and devotion to his Savior, his family and our country are lasting gifts to all of us who knew and loved him. He gave service all his life - unselfishly - for the betterment of church, education and community. Conrad taught for 27 years at West High School. His enthusiasm, creativity, humor, stage presence and whole hearted love of past and current events, brought U.S. History, American Government and International Relations to life for his students. When West High seniors expanded their voting for class favorites to include a category for "Most Influential Teacher", Conrad received that honor time after time, indicative of the great impact he had on his students, and the depth with which he touched young lives. Conrad's expertise and voice as an educator was heard throughout the years at National Education Association conventions, as he served as a member of the Arizona Education Association executive board. In addition, he sponsored West High Student delegates to the Model United Nations at U of A, and served many years as a counselor for Arizona Boys State at NAU. His community service as a precinct committeeman over the years has helped to insure the candidacy of qualified individuals with integrity to serve in local and state elected offices. Conrad was very proud of his pioneer heritage and their devotion to the building up of Christ's Kingdom here on earth. He lived his life true to their legacy. Conrad Naegle...a gentle giant, bighearted, full of faith, determination and love, with a special soft spot in his heart for his sweetheart of 56 years, Betty Jean.
