Marilyn (Lynn) Steinport, 72, passed away July 25, 2003 in Phoenix. Lynn
was the only child born to Edmund and Gene Hallern of Battle Creek,
Michigan. Lynn is survived by her husband of 49 years, George (Joe)
Steinport, daughters: Susan Binkley, Allison Welsh and Amy Barnes,
granddaughters Elisabeth and Katie Binkley and grandson Jack Barnes. She
spent her youth in southern California where she graduated from South
Pasadena High School and later graduated from Michigan State University,
where she met her husband Joe. After college, she taught English for
several years at WK Kellogg Jr. High School and at Battle Creek Central
High School. The family moved to Phoenix in 1976 where Lynn was active
as a travel agent. As a travel agent, she organized and led groups to
Hong Kong, Savannah, Georgia, New Orleans, San Antonio, Nogales and
Greece. While in Phoenix, Lynn had a love for southern California and
vacationed in Laguna Beach every summer. In her twenty-seven years as a
Phoenix resident, she acquired many friends who will dearly miss her and
she thoroughly enjoyed. She was a long time Moon Valley Women's Club and
Florence Crittenton Auxiliary member, for whom her monthly window
displays at their Central Avenue Thrift Shop were both popular and
effective.
