The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, January 14, 2012 Betty Sue Alvis Aug. 30, 1948 ~ Jan. 10, 2012 Sue Alvis of Prescott, Ariz., died from heart failure on Jan. 10, 2012. She was 63. Sue was born in Danville, Va., to Edward and Ruby Carson. She married Jerry Alvis of Anaheim, Calif., in 1987. Sue was selfless in making the welfare of her family a priority and sharing her unconditional love with all those around her. She was a devoted wife, wonderful sister, loving mother and caring friend. Sue leaves behind her husband, Jerry, of Prescott; brother Mike Carson of Anaheim; and son Steven Masters of San Francisco, as well as stepdaughters Jeannine Willoughby of Phoenix City, Ala., and Tamerisa Dyer of Mira Loma, Calif.; and her grandchildren Mikayla, Caleb, Makenzie, Blake, Collin and Samuel. Sue was raised in Orange County and graduated from California State University, Fullerton. She spent the bulk of her career with the Orange County Sheriff's department before retiring to her ranch in Prescott. Sue carried a deep concern for and was an active volunteer with the Alzheimer's Association in Prescott. In addition to her parents, two grandchildren, Karyna Dyer and Austin Willoughby, predeceased Sue. Sue will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched. A celebration of Sue's life will be at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, located on the corner of Cortez and Carleton streets in Prescott, on Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Desert Southwest Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 3111 Clearwater Drive, Suite A, Prescott, AZ 86305, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
