Mary E. Keisling passed away Dec. 18 at Larchwood Inns in Grand Junction at the age of 89 where she was recovering from surgery.
Mary was born to Edward and Mary Brennan on Feb. 28, 1922 in Morristown, N.J. She completed her registered nurse training in 1943 and married John J. Keisling in New Jersey in June, 1944.
They moved west for John’s health in the summer of 1945 and settled in Boulder City, Nev. where their seven children were born. In 1957 they moved to the new town of Page where John ran the first gas/service station and Mary worked as a nurse in the first medical clinic in Page.
Mary was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother who gave to her community by serving many years on the school board, hospital board and parish council while raising her children and caring for her parents in her home.
Mary is survived by her children: Judy (John) Gray of Loma, Colo.; Jack (Michelle), Peggy, Michael (Margaret) and Brian (Christine) Keisling of Page; and Christopher (Christi) of Mesa; 27 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John, of 55 years; her infant son, Mark; her father, Edward Brennan; her mother, Mary Brennan; and her grandson, Jonathan.
A mass celebrating her life will be offered in Page at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church at 1 p.m. on Dec. 31.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to John Wesley Powell Museum (928-645-9496) in Page or the United Firefighters of Page, Local 4729, at the Altier Credit Union in Page.
