VELARDE, Anthony Robert

Lake Powell Chronicle, Page, Arizona Friday, Dec 16th, 2011 Anthony Robert Velarde passed away Friday, Dec. 9 [2011] after a long illness. Anthony was born Aug. 26, 1953 in Van Nuys, Calif. He served in the United States Air Force and was in the Vietnam war where his duties involved working with and evacuating refugees. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Esther and George Chapin, his brother David Velarde, two nieces, Casey and Taylor Velarde, his father Tony, his daughter Melissa and son Anthony, and numerous cousins and friends. A memorial service will be held at Faith Bible Chapel, 551 San Francisco Rd., on Friday Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. per his request. He will be interned at San Bruno Military Cemetery in California at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial fund in Anthony’s name at National Bank of Arizona.
