Lake Powell Chronicle, Page, Arizona Thursday, Nov 10th, 2011 Longtime area resident Michael Lee Valentine went home to be with the Lord on Monday, Oct. 17 in Denver, Colo. after a valiant two-month effort to survive serious burns to 60 percent of his body. He was 61. At the time of his death, he had been living and working as a carpenter in Pagosa Springs, Colo. Known as “Mike,” he was born to Rusty and Beth Valentine in Collbran, Colo., on Aug. 20, 1950. He grew up on the Florida Mesa where he attended the Orr and Florida Mesa schools in Durango, Colo., during his grade school years. He graduated in 1969 from Page High School in Page. He married GeriAnn Julin in the early ‘70s in Lake Havasu City. The marriage later ended in divorce. “Mike loved the great outdoors and spent much of his free time hiking in the back country,” his family said. “He was an extraordinarily gifted wood craftsman. The creations of his hands will bring smiles and comfort to his family for generations to come.” Mr. Valentine married Eugenia “Jeanie” Lauzon (PHS Class of 1968) in the mid ‘70s in Southwest Colorado. The marriage later ended in divorce. Mr. Valentine is survived by his son, Jeremy Valentine, of Phoenix; daughter, Sonia Pancratz, of Pleasanton, Cali.; daughter, Lori Brandt, of Phoenix; sisters, Barbara Kugle of Bayfield, Colo., Maggie Inskeep (PHS Class of 1972) of Farmington, NM, and Becky Donatucci (PHS Class of 1975) of Santa Fe, NM; six grandchildren, Preston David Brandt, Jayda Valentine Brandt, John Michael Valentine, Gabriel Pancratz, Jacob Pancratz, Zachary Pancratz and numerous cousins. His family held a private celebration of his life on Saturday, Oct. 22, in Bayfield, Colo.
