Edward T. “Bud” Lippert passed away quietly at the age of 90, in Tucson on Oct. 13 with his family around him. Bud was born in Minnesota on March 6, 1921 to Edward and Rose Lippert.
Bud served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army just after WWII and was stationed at Fort Stevens in Oregon as coastal defense. In 1956 he moved his family to Flagstaff from Renville County Minnesota, and after a few trips to Page, he moved his family there in 1958. As an early Page Pioneer, Bud was a businessman and civic leader and was involved in the construction, and an active member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic church.
Bud moved his family to Tucson after Glen Canyon Dam was completed to pursue business ventures there, but returned to Page in the early 1970s. Bud was a businessman and became a member of the Planning and Zoning Commission for several years, before retiring in Tucson.
Bud enjoyed fishing and house boating on Lake Powell, and family trips to Puerto Penasco, Mexico.
Bud is remembered as an honest and fair man with a quick smile and a good sense of humor, and he will be missed by all who knew him.
Bud is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Leonard and Harold, two sisters, Kathryn and Elaine, his first wife Sylvia (Westby), and grandson Geoffrey Adams.
He is survived by his wife Avia, sons Ben, Dan, Dennis, Steve (Renee’) and daughter Lynda (J.R.), two brothers Arthur and Gerry, two sisters Virginia, and Phyllis Ann, seven grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held in Tucson on Saturday Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave, Oro Valley, AZ 85704 phone (520) 742-7901. A reception will follow the service.
