HURSON, Glenn

Lake Powell Chronicle, Page, Arizona Thursday, Apr 21st, 2011 Glenn Hurson was a pleasant and optimistic fellow with a sense of humor and a joyful sense of living life — ironies and all. He and his beloved huge Irish wolfhounds were found deceased at home in Page on April 11. Glenn bought a trailer over the internet more than 12 years ago and adopted “Lady” and the “Tramp” from a northern Michigan shelter (they were there 9 months) and together they drove out from Detroit. Ever the enthusiastic culinary person, he landed a job at Page Hospital, as a cook. During his first episode of heart failure, Glenn walked in January, from Calle Hermosa to the hospital, so as to not inadvertantly hurt anybody driving. Life expectancy for his newly diagnosed condition was 5 years. With his knowledge and faith, and top-notch medical care, he made it. The prognosis generally had been increased to 7 years and Glenn was in his sixth. He was the last of his family, which included loving parents in Detroit, and three brothers. Amazingly informed of world conditions, by PBS radio, Glenn was aware of the latest news and information. He prayed daily for a zone of peace and safety around him and his “Lady” and “Trampie.” For him, the end would have been a new beginning, with faith. Anyone who knew Glenn or knew of him and his kind soul is better off for it.
