The Tombstone News, Tombstone, Arizona Gloria Hackenberry Shields Gloria passed away in her home on Monday, December 19, 2011. Gloria was the daughter of Pacracio and Maria "Angelita" (Macias) Martinez. She was born in Tombstone, Arizona as one of 15 children. Soon after completing high school Gloria married her first husband, William Hackenberry with whom she had three children. As a military wife Gloria was able to travel. Starting with Ft. Huachuca she lived and traveled throughout California, Hawaii, Washington and Colorado. Afterward she returned home to Arizona and resided in Tombstone, Bisbee and Sierra Vista. Gloria worked as a bartender and always enjoyed being social, telling jokes and meeting new people. Gloria also loved dancing, good food, spending time with family and living life to its fullest. During her life Gloria had the pleasure of being a mother, grandmother, and a great-grandmother. Although her life was short, it was blessed and she enjoyed every moment. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Pacracio and Maria Martinez; two brothers, Manuel and Johnny (Juan) Martinez all of Tombstone; sister, Guadalupe Proctor of Washington and nephew, Isaiah Martinez of Tombstone. She is survived by her three children, Lisa Hackenberry and Angela Brandt of Hereford and William Hackenberry of Bisbee; five grandchildren, Ricky Mendoza, Selina Moore, Charissa Ray, Seth Ray and Isaac Brandt and three great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 516 E. Safford in Tombstone, with Father Sylvester Nwaogu as the celebrant with interment at the Tombstone City Cemetery. A "Celebration of Life" (potluck) was held at Ringo's Bar in Tombstone. Family invited anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Gloria. Arrangements are by Hatfield Funeral Home.
