Ventura Arce Alvarez, 57, of Avondale died July 23, 2006, in Phoenix. Mrs. Alvarez was born Aug. 19, 1948, in Santa Maria, Calif., and moved with her family to Arizona on May 1, 1949. She was a homemaker, and was a member of the Church of God in the Cashion community of Avondale. Mrs. Alvarez is survived by her husband, Abelardo Alvarez Sr.; two daughters, Bertha T. Arce of Fresno, Calif., and Aurora Arellano of Glendale; four sons, Abel Jr., Alfonso, Johnny and Albert Alvarez of Avondale; two sisters, Nellie Arce Pino of Avondale and Angelita A. Mendoza of Glendale; two brothers, Daniel S. Arce and Jesse S. Arce Sr., both of Avondale; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Church of God in the Cashion community of Avondale. The Rev. Cruz Ramirez will officiate. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Valley, Coronado House, 340 E. Coronado Road, Phoenix, AZ 85004. Crystal Rose Funeral Home in Tolleson made the arrangements.
