Arthur Cuen
Arthur Cuen Perez, 84 of Chandler, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008.
He was born on October 14, 1923, in Phoenix to Geraldo and Guadalupe Perez. He originaly lived in the Golden Gate barrio prior to being drafted into the Army during World War II.
He was a scout for the Army's 112th Infantry, Company E, 28th Division where he served during the Battle of the Bulge. While in Normandy, he became injured by shrapnel from a German grenade which penetrated his left thigh.
After the war, he married Lena Abril. He worked at Money Olds (Edwards Olds)until he retired in 1990. He was an active participant with Sacred Heart Church were he ushered and chaperoned CYO events. He coached baseball for Parks and Recreation, was a member of American Legion #41, and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
He is predeceased by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one grandaughter.
He is survived b his wife Lena of 63 years, son Arthur (Lucy) daughters Margaret (Larry-deceased) Salas, and Dorene (Tony) Arellano. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, his sisters Jesse Miranda, Alice Sterling, Ernestine Saiz and his brothers, Alfonso and Bobby.
Dad (Tata)we love you and we will miss you. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 9:00pm with rosary at 7:00pm., Monday, July 14,2008, at Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 East Indian School Road. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00am Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1800 E Libra Drive, Tempe, with interment following at St Francis Cemetery.
