Ernest Leon Tinker, 87, of Waddell died Aug. 28, 2010, in Goodyear. He was born Aug. 12, 1923, in Bache, Okla., to Ed A. and Mary.
Mr. Tinker, an Army veteran, served in Europe during World War II and was a corporal with the 770th Field Artillery Battalion. He won several decorations, including a Good Conduct Medal, World War Ii Victory Ribbon, EAME Theater Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon and one Silver Star.
Later, he worked as a truck driver and master mechanic. He was an equipment superintendent when he retired from Fisher Contracting in 1987. He also was a member of Local 428 of the Operating Engineers Union.
He is survived by three daughters, Dorothy Carol Swanson, Sandy Simmons and Sherry Propst; one son, Brian; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Thursday with burial that followed at Sunwest Cemetery and Crematorium in El Mirage.
