Richard William Petersen passed away at his home in Lake Havasu City Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 at the age of 76. He was born in Chicago, Ill., Aug. 9, 1935, to Richard and Agnes (Redding) Petersen.
Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, enlisting March 5, 1956, and was honorably discharged March 11, 1958.
After his military service, Richard entered the printing business and became an owner of a printing supply business. He was an avid Ham radio operator, talking with people all over the world. He also enjoyed metal detecting along with his wife, Lucille. Richard and Lucille made Lake Havasu City their home ten years ago, moving from Schiller Park, Ill.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lucille; his son, John Richard Petersen; daughter, Tracy Marie Petersen; brothers, Ken Petersen, Jim Petersen, Art Petersen, Pat Petersen and Ron Petersen; sisters, Audrey Salzbrunn, Dorothy Perek and Joan Adamson; and two grandchildren, Brian Rogers and Bridget Rogers. He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Petersen.
Visitation will be today, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. during the visitation. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens with military honors performed by the American Legion Post 81 and VFW Post 9401.
