CWYNAR, Joseph (Ted)

Joseph "Ted" Cwynar, 82, born in New Castle, Pennsylvania on July 22, 1924, was peacefully received into the Lord's hands on June 11, 2007. Ted served in World War II, and taught field artillery, and hand to hand combat. He and his wife, Margarette, were married on May 23, 1945, and then traveled for thirteen years working for the National Circulating Company in sales and advertising. Ted and Margarette then settled in Wapiti, Wyoming, bought and ran a ranch as a hunting lodge and raised Black Angus cattle. Not long after, he and Margarette purchased and successfully managed Buffalo Bill Cocktail Lounge in Cody, Wyoming. Ted and Margarette moved to Tucson in 1965 and entered into their last business endeavor together purchasing, the now historically known, Sneaky Pete's Steakhouse. Sneaky Pete's became a Tucson landmark for many visiting celebrities and a welcoming hot spot for local community members. Ted and Margarette are devout members of Our Sorrows Parish in Tucson. Ted remained an active member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Disabled American Veterans, Elk's Lodge, and Moose Lodge. Ted and Margarette moved to the Phoenix area in 2004 to be closer to family. Joseph "Ted" Cwynar is survived by his beloved wife, Margarette; two children, Mark and his spouse Jennifer, Marcella and her spouse Steve; his two grandchildren, Leija and her spouse Clint, Richard and his spouse Aries; and Ted's four great-grand children Joseph, Alexis, Savannah, and Holden. Family and friends were invited to a visitation and Rosary Thursday evening, June 14 at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale. Funeral Mass was Friday, June 15 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7655 E. Main Street, Scottsdale. Committal with Military Honors was Monday, June 18 at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Joseph "Ted" Cwynar was "not too shabby, kid". He was a strong, loving father, grandfather, and great-grand father, committed to his family and the Lord. His love touched us all and gives us faith and strength in knowing he is at peace and will continue to watch over us. For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not parish, but might have eternal life.
