Ruth Aul Davis, 76, resident of St. Johns died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, in Show Low. She was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Gallup, N.M., the daughter of Milton Todd Aul and Verna Lewis Aul.
Ruth and her husband, Dale, were sealed for time and eternity in the Mesa Arizona Temple in 1953 and made their home and raised their children in St. Johns. Ruth was an exceptional mother and truly loved her children and grandchildren, always teaching by example. She never forgot anniversaries, birthdays, or special occasions in the lives of all her family.
She was a lifelong, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many various callings throughout her lifetime, and loved to visit teach. Ruth felt very privileged and honored to be called as a temple worker in the Snowflake Temple, where she served for eight years. She truly loved to serve the Lord.
Ruth is survived by her husband, Dale S. Davis of St. Johns; sons: Mark (Vicki) Davis of Taylor, Derek (Lara) Davis of St. Johns, and Douglas (Heatherlea) Davis of Mesa; daughters: Liane (David) Carmichael, Gilbert, and Gena (Mark) Sherwood, Kirtland, N.M.; sisters: JoAn Gibbons and Earlene Balls; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in St. Johns. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. also at the church. Interment will follow the services at the St. Johns Westside Cemetery.
