FAIRCHILD, Margaret (Peggy)


West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona October 05, 2010 Margaret "Peggy" Fairchild, 85, formerly of Litchfield Park, died Sept. 22, 2010, in Alhambra, Calif. Mrs. Fairchild was born Oct. 2, 1924, in Utica, N.Y. She moved to Arizona in 1964. She graduated from the Mt. Sinai Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a nurse and homemaker. She served as an ensign in the Naval Reserve from 1951 to 1952. She also led Scout troops and promoted Native American art as a member of the Heard Museum Guild and West Valley Arts Council. She was named an Arizona "Living Treasure" for her work. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert. She is survived by one daughter, Susan Barry of La Canada, Calif.; three sons, Jeffrey of Granbury, Texas, Bruce of Tucson and Charles of Glendale; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix.
