West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona October 05, 2010 Roberto R. Gonzales, 85, of Avondale died Sept. 28, 2010, in Goodyear. Mr. Gonzales was born April 27, 1925, in Lacoste, Texas. He moved to Arizona in 1961. He worked as a groundskeeper at the Wigwam Resort & Golf Club. During the 1970s, he leased and operated Sunset Gas Station on the northwest corner of Main Street and Central Avenue in Avondale. He was a member of Iglesia de Dios church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarita. He is survived by one daughter, Elsa; three sons, Armando, Joe Fred and Robert Jr.; one brother, Andres; 16 grandchildren and 10 great-children. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. today at Iglesia de Dios Church, 11202 W. Joblanca Road, Avondale. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 10045 W. Thomas Road, Avondale.
