Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Sunday, January 22, 2012 Joan Mercedes tenBrink Pensak, 83, born May 8, 1928, Norfolk NB died peacefully in her home on January 15, 2012 in Flagstaff, AZ. Mercy moved to California at age 8, attended LA High School, and married her HS boyfriend Marvin Pensak. Together, they had 3 children. Mercy was a California girl. She didn't swim much, but loved the ocean. She always had a swimming pool, spent a lot of time outdoors during her child- raising years. She divorced, moved to San Diego in 1979. She worked for the County of SD for 12 years. In 2003, she relocated to Flagstaff to be closer to her daughter Lauri. Mercy then moved into Loyalton/Emeritis of Flagstaff, Assisted Living where she lived for 8 years. Mercy loved jewelry and turquoise. She had a flair for fashion and liked to look her best. She was shy, modest and appreciated her privacy. She is survived by her daughters: Lauri & (Roy) Gardner of Flagstaff, AZ, Lesa Pensak of Incline Village, NV, and her grandchildren: Ryan, Jenny, & Grant, Flagstaff. She is preceded in death by her father and brother, Eugene tenBrink Sr. & Jr., mother, Bessie Green Larson, and son, Rick Pensak. A celebration of life we be held on Saturday Jan. 28th 1-3 p.m. at the home of Lauri and Roy Gardner.
