Donna L. Farley, 76, of Richmond, Va., left this earth a better place Jan. 16, 2012. She was born in Wyandotte, Mich., to David and Margaret Robinson.
Formerly of Lake Havasu City, she leaves behind her three children Karen, Jim and Sue; daughter-in-law, Sarah; six grandchildren Jessica, Matt, Joseph, Nick, Luke and Jake; her sister and brother-in-law, Bev and Roy Fischer; nephew, David Fischer; and niece, Beth Gee and husband Chris.
She devoted her career and retirement years to the American Red Cross, serving in leadership roles both in Akron, Ohio, and National Disaster Services. Donna loved the desert scenery and climate of Lake Havasu City, and only recently moved to Richmond hoping to enjoy her final years closer to family. Throughout her life, caring for pets, birds and other wildlife was her passion. Her grocery list often included more food for roadrunners, bunnies and quail than it did for herself. Her children adored her many exceptional qualities, including her wit and humor, courage and strength through difficult times and generous heart to helping those less fortunate.
A private family service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Donna’s favorite charitable organizations, Lake Havasu Humane Society www.westernarizonahumane.org or World Pediatric Project www.worldpediatricproject.org.
