Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from January 22 to January 29, 2012 - Jean Margaret Colvin, age 88, a short-time resident of Fort Mohave, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Valley View Medical Center in Fort Mohave, Ariz. Jean was born April 15, 1923, in Nebraska City, Neb. to James Taylor and Leona (Wagner) Graham. Her family moved to Casper, Wyoming when she was three days old. She graduated from Natrona County High School, married Lyle Poirot, and reared four sons, Jimmie, Gary, Craig and Bret. Jean taught Sunday School and did other work in the church. She worked outside the home at various jobs while also being a homemaker. She played the electric guitar, sang and participated in small groups to provide entertainment for special occasions, which she enjoyed very much until her arthritis made it difficult to do. She quit performing, and started playing the keyboard for her own enjoyment. In December 1998, she married Daniel Colvin. She and Dan were high school sweethearts. They flew to Hawaii and took a five island tour for their honeymoon. In 2000, they flew to Puerto Rico for the wedding of Dan's grandson, Scott. Later they took a cruise through the Panama Canal. They enjoyed traveling to visit friends and relatives. They especially enjoyed their time in Wisconsin where they enjoyed going to the University of Wisconsin Badger Football and Green Bay Packer football games Later they took a 10 day cruise to Hawaii. However, an unfulfilled desire of Jean's, was a cruise tour to Alaska. They moved to Fort Mohave, December 16, 2011, so that Jean would be nearer to her family living in Mohave Valley, and to enjoy the warm dry weather to help her arthritis. She was preceded in death by first husband Lyle Poirot; sister-in-law, Helen-June Penz; parents, James and Leona Graham; and her two sisters, Madeline Casebolt and Bernadine Nickerson. She is survived by her husband, Daniel Colvin; four son's, Jimmie Poirot of Las Vegas, Nev., Gary Poirot of Ventura, Calif., Craig Poirot of Portland, Ore., and Bret Poirot of Salt Lake City, Utah; brother-in-law, Warren Nickerson of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; three nieces, Mary Kay (Frank) Curtis of Orange County, Calif., Sue Scott of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Kathy (Mark) Colebrook of Mohave Valley, Ariz.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 15, 2012, in Mohave Valley.
