Wilmuth Lola Forrester Chiles, 92, passed away Jan. 19, 2012 in Lake Havasu City. She was born on Oct. 25, 1919, in Memphis, Tenn.
Wilmuth married Harry Chiles in Memphis, Aug. 25, 1936, and they drove cross-country to Southern California, where Harry was employed at Lockeed. They resided there until retirement in 1980 and then moved to Lake Havasu City, where they had bought property in the 1960s with the idea of retiring here eventually. Wilmuth loved gardening and raised beautiful roses all her adult life, even in Lake Havasu where it was no easy chore. She was a feisty little woman who charmed most people she came in contact with and was devoted to her family.
Wilmuth is survived by her son, Ronald Chiles, of Minot, N.D.; daughter, Carolyn Chiles. of Fairbanks, Alaska and Lake Havasu City; grandsons, Christopher Chiles, of Juneau, Alaska, Jeff Chiles of Gilbert, Ariz., Dan Nelson and Dylan Nelson, of Lake Havasu City, and David Nelson, of Fairbanks, Alaska; great grandchildren, Kelci Hopp, Tyler Nelson, Kelci Hopp, Tyler Nelson, all of Beaverton, Ore., Kelci Knodel, of Minot, N.D., and Zane, Cody and Zoe Chiles, of Gilbert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Chiles; and grandson, LT. Daryl Nelson, USN.
Graveside service and interment will be at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens Wednesday, at 8:30 a.m. Thoughts, memories and condolences can be sent to the family at www.lakehavasumortuary.com.
