The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, January 24, 2012 Helen Louise Edwardson passed away on Jan. 23, 2012, in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Aug. 14, 1922, to Cleveland and Helen (Morrow) Sherman in Alamosa, Colo. She grew up in Phoenix, Ariz., and graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1940. She worked at Luke Air Force Base during World War II. In 1943, she was married to William G. Simon. They lived in Goodyear, Ariz., and their son, Gaylord, was born in 1945. She was employed by Arizona Public Service in Avondale and transferred to Prescott in 1973. The same year she met and married Herman J. Edwardson of Chino Valley, Ariz. They moved to Prescott Valley in 1985. Helen was a 50-year member plus post matron of Acacia Chapter # 46, Order of Eastern Star in Avondale, Ariz. She was also a past member of the Ambassadors of Prescott Valley Chamber of Commerce, and in 1999 was chosen Chamber of Commerce Member of the Year. Helen has been an active member of the Center for Spiritual Living since 1984. She enjoyed being a member and helping in the center. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Herman J. Edwardson; her parents; and brother Ralph Sherman. She is survived by her son Gaylord R. Simon and family; brother Harry McCue and family; stepdaughter Joan Myers; daughter-in-law Vona Edwardson; daughter-in-law Vickie Edwardson and family; and many wonderful grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at Sunrise Funeral Home Chapel, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley, Ariz.
