Frank Albert Bosh, 88, passed away Jan. 22, 2012, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born on Jan. 24, 1923, in La Grange, Ill.
Frank was a graduate of Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with degrees in finance, commerce and political science. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an anti-aircraft gunner and was stationed in the South Pacific.
Frank owned and operated College DX in Cedar Rapids for nine years and was both owner of a wholesale auto parts business and partner in Midwest Dynamics when first elected to the Cedar Rapids City Council in 1962. He later served as Public Safety Commissioner and Mayor. Frank moved to Arizona in 1969 where he served as executive director of Valley Forward Association in Phoenix until 1976. Frank was the first deputy director of the Arizona Department of Transportation and worked in real estate after leaving ADOT in 1980. After retiring to Prescott Valley in 1985, he served as chairman of the Prescott Valley Planning Commission and the Prescott Valley Voters Association, and was a member of the Yavapai County Blue Ribbon Committee and Habitat for Humanity. Frank was inducted into Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame in 2003.
Frank was married to his wife Janet, for 59 years; she preceded him in death in 2008. Frank is survived by daughters Joni Bosh (Rob Smith) of Phoenix, Laura Nash (Rick) of Scottsdale and Christa Simmons (Rowle) of Prescott; grandchildren Joseph Prekup (Heather) of Fort Worth, Texas, Megan Neal (Jamin) of Phoenix, Jeffrey Nash of Phoenix, Frank Smith of Flagstaff, Carl Smith of Bellingham, Wash., Monica Parker (Ben) of Yarmouth, Maine, and Voni Simmons of Seattle, Wash.; great-grandsons Spencer, Camden and Travis Parker of Yarmouth, Maine; and sister Edith Bosh of Florida. In addition, he leaves behind his two loving caregivers, Glennie Thomas and Dorothy Kalabus.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kevin Doyle, Erika, Opal and the rest of the staff at Granite Mountain Hospice for their compassion in caring for Frank.
A private family service will be at Prescott National Cemetery.
