WOODARD, SR., Walter Lee

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona Tuesday, January 31, 2012 Walter Lee Woodard Sr., 71, of Phoenix and formerly of Buckeye died Jan. 25, 2012. Mr. Woodard was born Oct. 31, 1940, in Lepanto, Ark. He moved to Arizona at the age of 6 and lived in Buckeye, Gila Bend and Ajo, during his early teen years. He met his wife, Ernestine, at the age of 16 and they were married at 18. He worked for 26 years as a block plant supervisor in Phoenix and then as a cement finisher supervisor at Tanner Construction. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ernestine; one son, Walter of Phoenix; two daughters, Christine DeSanti and Cherie Nolan of Waddell; three sisters; three brothers; and 11 grandchildren. A memorial service was held Monday at Best Funeral Services, 9380 W. Peoria Ave. in Peoria.
