GUZZO, Donald (Don) A.


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, January 31, 2012 Donald A. Guzzo passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2012. He passed away with his wife of 56 years, Joan, and his family by his side. He was born in Chicago, Ill., the oldest son of Anthony and Louise (Fornato) Guzzo. Don grew up on the north side of Chicago and attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier. He met the love of his life on a blind date in 1950. After serving his country in the Korean Conflict, he married Joan. Together they raised four children and truly lived the "American Dream." He moved his family and furniture restoration business, Anthony's Furniture Restoration, to Prescott in 1984. He was an active member of the Loyal Order of Moose, achieving the Fellowship degree, and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife Joan (Postelanczyk); children Douglas Guzzo of Chino Valley, Barbara (Richard) VanGyseghem of Green Cove Springs, Fla., Luann (Linn) Roberts of Prescott and Nicholas (Lorraine) Guzzo of Prescott; grandchildren Serena Guzzo, Sara (Jeff) Loehr, Tony Guzzo, Joanie Guzzo, Rosie (Jeff) Teller, Monica VanGyseghem, Nicholas Guzzo, Rebecca VanGyseghem, Joseph Guzzo, Gracie Roberts and Mikey Roberts as well as additional grandkids, Daniel Hampton, Kyle Davis and Jesses Witkowski; great-grandchildren Heather, Zach, Isaiah, Haiden and Cadie; great-great-grandchild Mackenzie; and sister Marie Moore of Chicago, Ill. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Louise; sister Josephine; brother Nicholas; and beloved granddaughter Bobbie. A gathering of family and friends will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, at Hampton Funeral Home, 240 S. Cortez, Prescott. A celebration of Don's life will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at Hampton Funeral Home. Please feel free to join us.
