William Hudson Fields III, 75, of Goodyear died Oct. 2, 2010.
Mr. Fields, who was the president of a consulting firm and a former magazine publisher, was born Dec. 11, 1934, in New Orleans to William Hudson Fields Jr. and Mary Caroline Thagard.
He received a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Illinois and a Master of Science degree in industrial engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Mr. Fields was the president of Fields Associates, a consulting firm to the global cycling industry, and formerly the publisher of Bicycle Guide, Bicycling Magazine and Microwaves.
He also worked with a number of aerospace companies on reconnaissance satellites, radio receivers and held patents for high-speed cameras used in medical and nuclear research.
He was a licensed pilot and a member of the League of American Bicyclists, Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, Society of the Cincinnati and Sons of the American Revolution.
He is survived by his wife, Jennifer Fawcett; one son, William; two daughters, Patricia Pedersen and Mary Judge; one stepson, James Lacy; one brother, Jack; two sisters, Betty Petrey and Caroline Fields; and four grandchildren.
Mr. Fields requested no services. Cremation has taken place.
