Mrs. Colton Dies At Sierra Madre
Mrs. Helen Adams Colton died September 21 in Sierra Madre, Calif. where she had resided for a number of years. She had been in ill health for a long time. Her daughter, Mrs. R. L. (Harriet) Webb and her husband were with her at the time of her death.
Mrs. Colton was born in Prescott, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Adams, prominent early day residents. Mr. Adams was in the lumber business and the family home was located at the corner of Gurley and Mt. Vernon streets.
She attended local schools, Pomona college and the Flagstaff Normal school. She was a member of the Episcopal church of Flagstaff.
She was married to George Colton, of Flagstaff, and a couple established there and later spent several years at Grand Canyon, where Mr. Colton was associated with the Verkamp Curio store. Following his retirement from active business, Mr. and Mrs. Colton went to Sierra Madre to live.
In addition to her husband and daughter, Mrs. Coleman is survived by two grandchildren, Rockwell and Nancy Webb; also a sister Mrs. Alice Adams Knipe, of Pasadena and a brother Henry Adams, of Inspiration.
The body will be brought to Prescott for burial in the family plot.
Lester Ruffner Funeral Home will be in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Coleman was a woman of fine character and made many friends who mourn her passing.
