GETZ, Paul (Papa)


Paul "Papa" Getz, 70, of Margaret and Anton Getz and resident of Phoenix, passed away on May 31, 2007, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Paul was born on Jan. 10, 1939 in Bienfait, Saskatchewan, Canada. Prior to relocating to the United States when he was 25 years old, Paul completed training with the International Business Machines Corporation in Montreal, Canada and later established a successful office equipment business in Santa Cruz, California. In 1976, he moved with his wife and family to Arizona, where he managed acquired real estate properties, and eventually completed a 28-year employment as a plumber. Paul was a compassionate and selfless man who lived a life of faith, serving as an exemplary model to all those whose lives he touched. He was a gifted man who possessed many artistic abilities and had a knack for fixing most anything he touched. Paul was well known for his love of old Western movies and classic model cars. He is most fondly remembered as a man who had great unconditional love for his family and friends. Paul will be greatly missed by Anne, his wife of 43 years, daughters Alana (Scott) McCamman, Kimberly (Jeff) Austin, Stephanie (Ed) Hadley, and his 8 adoring grandchildren: Lauren, Jacob, Erica, Katherine, Ryan, Megan, Brandon, and Sophia. Paul will also be fondly remembered by his brother Ellery (Beth) Getz, sisters Donna Maud and Terry (Stephen) Trodd, many nieces and nephews and Southern in-laws, Thea (Joe) Chastain and Andrew Joe (Eileen) Morrow. A vigil service was held at Whitney Murphy Funeral Home, 4800 E. Indian School Rd., Phoenix, on Monday, June 4th, 2007, which included a rosary service. A celebration Mass of Paul's life was held on Tuesday, June 5th at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 5045 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix.
