GULLICK,
Peggy Lu Jean
(Maiden Name: Wood)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/10/2012
Peggy Lu Jean Gullick, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2012, in the comfort of her own home in Taylor, from complications of a lengthy illness.
Peggy was born Monday, Sept. 20, 1937 in Ogden, Utah to the late John Lyle and Edna Mae (Cook) Wood. She had made Arizona her home the past 17 years and truly appreciated the beauty of her tiny community of Taylor and the entire White Mountains area. She felt so much at home.
Following her high school graduation, Peggy soon realized just how big the world really was. She loved life and everything it had to offer. She learned valuable lifelong lessons from every situation placed before her. She truly looked for the goodness in others and had a zest for life that was unmatched by just about anyone on the planet. Peggy was a huge San Francisco 49ers fan and rarely, if ever, missed a game. Any given season, Peggy could tell you the stats of the team and who the team’s star players were. She was always right on. Another one of Peggy’s favorite pastimes was watching or attending Old Broadway Musicals. Some of her favorites were “The Sound of Music,” The King and I” and most recently, any of Andrew Lloyd Weber’s productions.
Though she loved her 49ers and her Broadway musicals, Peggy had even a greater love: that of her children. Her children, in unison, say “she was a very loving and good mother.” They learned much by her example and she was always there whenever they needed her, and even when they didn’t. They truly will miss her like no other, as they all loved her so much in return.
This sweet and dynamic woman will be missed by many friends as well as her great big family. Peggy is survived by her husband, Dewey G. Gullick of Florence; three children: Michael Anthony Gouveia, Tami Gouveia both of Hayward, Calif., and Guy Gouveia of San Leandro, Calif.; her dear mother-in-law, Louise Guffey of Snowflake; five step-children: Mary Louise Trujillo, Jason Gullick both of Apache Junction, Brenda Carroll of Flagstaff, Rhonda Albright, Bonnie Craig both of Snowflake; three brothers-in-law: Gerald (Betty) Gullick of Taylor, Andrew (Virlene) Gullick of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Ferron “Ron” (Sandra) Gullick of Peoria; three sisters-in-law: Inella Hogan of Simi Valley, Calif., Arlie Darlene Howard of Snowflake, Jean Mauveen Bailey of Henderson, Nev.; four grandchildren: Jacob Mullins, Nicole Mullins, Sarah Gouveia, John Gouveia; and a great-grandson, Devon.
A special memorial for Peggy will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Burton Baptist Church in Burton.
