Curtis Paul Nelson, 69, passed away on January 20th 2012 at his home in Munds Park. He was born on February 18, 1942 in Two Harbors MN. A memorial service will be held on February 18th 2pm at Church of the Epiphany in Flagstaff. Curt is survived by his wife Melanie, also of Munds Park his son Aaron and his dog Hector.
Curt served in the Navy in the early 1960's. He was a resident of Munds Park for almost 50 years and started Munds Park Security with his two beloved shepherds for almost 10 years before starting Discount Towing.
He was a colorful character in Munds Park, driving his ATV with no shirt and suspenders and his Rottweiler Brutus on board, who wore goggles and a scarf. He served on the fire department as a volunteer in the 1980's. He loved going to Rocky Point and ride on the beach with his wife and dog. Yes she had to share his ATV with the dog. He was an avid trail rider and always planned excursions for his family and friends whether it be on the trails of the Coconino forest or the dunes in Yuma and Utah. In fact he built some of the trails to the dismay of the forest service. Curt will be remembered for being a free spirit.
