MEANS, SR., Warren Samuel


West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona November 09, 2010 Warren Samuel Means Sr., 89, of Buckeye died Nov. 6, 2010, in Goodyear. He moved to Arizona in 1961. Mr. Means was born Nov. 15, 1920, near McLouth, Kan., to Samuel R. and Esther M. Means. He was an Army veteran who served in Europe during World War II. Later he worked for the John Morrell Co. in Topeka, Kan., and as a mechanic at International Harvester in Oskaloosa, Kan. He also farmed with his father and had his own dairy farm. In 1961, after a tornado struck the farm, he moved to Buckeye and went to work for Arizona Machinery Co. He was a mechanic and parts worker when he retired from the firm in the late 1980s. Mr. Means was preceded in death by his wife, Louella. He is survived by one son, Warren Jr. of Phoenix; and one daughter, Neva L. Keck; two sisters, Ruth Ryan of Leavenworth, Kan., and Lela Grace Lobb of Oklaloosa, Kan., five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Community Church of Buckeye, 810 E. Eason Ave., Buckeye. His ashes later will be interred at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix. Memorials can be made to the Community Church of Buckeye, 810 E. Eason Ave., Buckeye, AZ 85326; or to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
