ROOKS, Don Lester

West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona November 09, 2010 Don Lester Rooks, 70, of Litchfield Park died Nov. 1, 2010. Mr. Rooks was born Nov. 14, 1939, in Albuquerque, N.M. He was raised on a cattle ranch in Buckeye and graduated from Buckeye High School in 1958. He was an Army veteran and served as an infantry officer. He also received a doctorate in counseling psychology from Arizona State University and retired in 2000 after many years as a school psychologist for the Phoenix Union High School District. He also was a pilot and flight instructor. He is survived by his wife, Rennie, of Avondale; two daughters, Lora of Avondale, and Jenn Rooks-Make of Phoenix; one son, Don; and one sister, Gerre Arnold of Litchfield Park. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at Heiden Land and Cattle, 26200 W. Broadway Road, Buckeye. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014.
