THOMPSON, John Kenneth


West Valley View, Avondale, Arizona November 19, 2010 John Kenneth Thompson, 85, of Youngtown and formerly of Avondale and Goodyear, died of Nov. 15, 2010, in Youngtown. Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Denton, Texas. He moved to Arizona in 1969. He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II and received a Purple Heart after being wounded Dec. 24, 1944, during the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from the Air Force in 1965 and worked for Lockheed Martin Corp. before retiring in 1988. He is survived by his wife, Louise; four sons, Mike, of Goodyear, Ron, of Youngtown, and Steve and Terry, both of Goodyear; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Golden Door Chapel, 11211 W. Michigan Ave., Youngtown. The Rev. Clayton A. Thompson will officiate. A graveside service with full military honors also will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix..
