BAUGHMAN, Janice Ellen

(Maiden Name: Clark)

Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from February 12 to February 19, 2012 - Janice Ellen "Jan" Baughman, nee Clark, age 57, a 15-year resident of Fort Mohave, Ariz., passed away, Monday, January 30, 2012, peacefully in her home after fighting a courageous seven year battle against cancer and infection. Jan was born on April 11, 1954 in Long Beach, Calif., and was the youngest daughter of the late William and Patricia Clark. Jan moved to Fort Mohave, Ariz., in 1997 after living on several cattle ranches in Montana and Wyoming over a period of 14 years. She was an accomplished Equestrian rider, and enjoyed being surrounded by animals of all kinds. Jan was an extremely gifted and talented artist, specializing in western cowboy pointillism. She was delighted when all of her pieces on exhibit in a gallery in Sheridan, Wyo., were sold, and thrilled when other pieces were sold in Searchlight, Nev. Jan held several positions with WestCare Ariz. from 1997 until 2005. She worked with runaway and homeless children at WestCare's CRRYS facility, implemented the Abstinence Only Education Program and obtained her Arizona, Licensed Independent Substance Abuse Counselor License in 2004. In 2005, Jan was hospitalized for Sepsis, resulting in the loss of her legs, and numerous health conditions. She was not expected to live, however, after six months in the hospital and two weeks in rehab and an overwhelming desire to succeed, Jan returned home and made a spectacular recovery. In 2006, Jan was diagnosed with cancer and beat it on two separate occasions refusing to succumb. In April of 2011, Jan was diagnosed with Cancer for the third and final time. Though she fought hard and remained upbeat and cheerful throughout her second round of Chemo and radiation, this time the cancer had metastasized and her fight could not be won. Jan had the uncanny ability to find comedy in the most mundane activities. Her wonderfully wry sense of humor, quick wit, and playfulness will be missed by all who knew her. Jan was the beloved wife of Tom Baughman and mother of Tom Allen. Jan will forever be remembered by her devoted brother, John Clark and loving sisters, Becky Kerestes and Eileen Hall. She is also survived by three nieces, two nephews, and several grand nieces and nephews along with countless other family and friends that were blessed to know her. Services will be private as per Jan's request; however, anyone who wishes to celebrate her life can join her family and friends at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2012, for a casual gathering at the Moon Shadow Grille Sunday Champagne Brunch at the Avi Casino, 10000 Aha Macav Parkway, Laughlin, Nev.
