Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from February 10 to February 17, 2012 - Elmer Wayne "Bill" Whitford, age 81, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012, in Mohave Valley, Ariz. Mr. Whitford was born July 25, 1930, in Riverside, Calif., and was a fifty-nine year resident of Riverside before moving to Mohave Valley, twenty-two years ago. Bill served in the United States Navy from 1947 to 1949. He was employed as a Coordinator at Hargus Disposal. In his leisure time, he enjoyed car racing, jeep -riding, playing poker, classic cars, and loved spending time with his family. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Whitford. He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Huggins of Bartow, Fla.; Cathy Lynn, of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.; and Debbie (Buck) Sims of Bartow, Fla.; son, Bob (Debbie) Whitford of Moreno Valley, Calif.; brother, Glen (Nancy) Whitford of Overton, Nev.; sister, Thelma (Mike) Craghead of Tempe, Ariz.; brothers-in-law, David (Betty) Hargus of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Tim Hargus, Savannah, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren;and eight nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012, at Dimond & Sons Silver Bell Chapel, 2620 Silver Creek Road, Bullhead City, Ariz.
