Benjamin John Bateman was born on May 17, 1972, in Phoenix, Ariz., to Jerry L. and Linda G. Bateman. He went to be with his Lord on Feb. 11, 2012, in Prescott, Ariz.
He was a beloved husband to Jennifer Leigh for seven years; a loving and caring father to his daughters Tayler Marie and Averi Rayne; and a devoted brother to Brian Lee and Bradley Wayne.
He is survived by his parents, wife, daughters and brothers along with his nephews Brett Wayne and Brady Everett and his nieces Nellie Lou and Kaylee Grace; many aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Wayne and June Bateman and Bill and Nellie Wanders; uncles Don and Butch Bateman; and aunt Barbara Stephan.
Ben worked for the Prescott Fire Department from 1995-2004 and then the Phoenix Fire Department from 2004 to the present. He was a talented artist who drew Christian cartoons and had his own website called MankindToons.com. His sole purpose in life was to serve our Lord and to share his love for God, family, and friends through his talent of drawing.
Ben's compassion and caring service as a firefighter/paramedic will never be forgotten by many people. His life was a true example of faith, hope and strength to get through lifeʼs struggles and many years of pain. May his death also, in ways beyond our understanding right now, bestow Godʼs greatest blessings to all in need.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at the Heights Church, 2121 Larry Caldwell Drive, Prescott, Ariz. All are welcome.
Contributions may be made to the Benjamin J. Bateman Memorial Trust at Bank of America.
