Sylvia Audrey Young Champagne, 71, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., passed away on Jan. 30, 2012, after a short battle with cancer. She was born on April 11, 1940, in Brattleboro, Vt., to Lewis and Ellen Young.
She moved to Prescott Valley in 1992 with her husband Charles. She was formerly employed at the CASA Senior Center. She loved to cook and dance. She was a very talented artist who was able to work with any medium. She was a spirited lady who was generous and kind to her family and friends.
She leaves two sons, Robert P. Schmidt Jr. and his wife Stacy, and Eric P. Schmidt Sr.; a daughter, Lara S. Carmichael, and her husband John; seven grandchildren: Eric, Andrew, Corey, Mathew, Keira, Bridie and a special granddaughter, Erika, whom she adored; a brother, Lewis Young; longtime friend Irene Killingsworth; lifelong friend Elisa Brown; and many extended family members. She was predeceased by her husband, parents, a brother, Allen, and her beloved kitty Pinky.
A celebration of life will be 3 p.m. March 30, 2012, at the CASA Senior Center, 9360 Manzanita Circle in Prescott Valley. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the CASA Senior Center.
