The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 02/17/2012 Etta Mae Freeland, 74, died Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, at her home in Eagar. She was born July 4, 1937, in Fair Acres, NM. to Mack and Maria Monica Lopez Dickerson. Etta was an administrative assistant for S.E.S. She will be missed by all who knew her. Etta was a woman of class and beauty, professionally modeling in her younger years. Etta lived a wonderful life. She and her husband, Chuck, were fortunate enough to travel the world and experience many cultures and collected treasures from Indonesia, Middle East, Caribbean, Europe and Mexico. She also enjoyed arrowhead hunting with her family. Etta was blessed with a green thumb and loved gardening. She had a wonderful fashion sense and taught her grandchildren the importance of being a lady or a gentleman. She left an indelible mark on all the lives she touched during her journey of life. “Etta fought a long and courageous battle against cancer and was an inspiration to us all.” Etta is survived by her sons: John Michael (Rhonda) Freeland, Charles Luke (Lois) Freeland; brothers: Vernon Dickerson and J.W. Dickerson; sister Katie Butler, eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Freeland; and brothers, Mack Dickerson, Jr., and Walter Dickerson.
