Mary Carol O’Malley passed away at the age of 71. She was born in Port Huron City, Mich., Dec. 23, 1941, being the only child of Harry Ritzel and Mary Urban. Her father was killed in action in Germany 1945, and Mary was adopted by her mother’s new husband, Vincent J. O’Malley, in 1952.
A 1963 Graduate of Marygrove College in Detroit, Mich., with a BA in business economics, Mary was an assistant controller with a New York Stock Exchange brokerage firm, the director of Alumni Relations for Marygrove College, and an insurance agent in Michigan and Arizona.
Moving to Lake Havasu City in 1977, Mary was the office manager for Bueno Builders and the broker for Palmdale Realty. From 1986 to date, she was the appraiser/owner of The Associates R.E. Appraising, a broker at GKR Properties LLC, and an original partner of HLO Property Tax Consultants, LLC. She was a Mohave Community College Campus Foundation past secretary 1977-1984, one of the founding members of the Havasu Foundation for a Higher Education, an AAUW Michigan State board member 1975-1977, and an AAUW past president of the Lake Havasu City Branch.
At Mary’s request, there will be no formal services but we have planned a Celebration of Life for Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at the Lake Havasu Association of Realtors building located at 2293 Swanson Ave., in Lake Havasu City.
In lieu of flowers or cards, donations will be accepted to help further the many local causes that Mary supported.
