BUTTERI, Anita Loraine

(Maiden Name: Ferguson)

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Saturday, February 18, 2012 - Anita Loraine Butteri, 52, passed away Feb. 16, 2012 in Lake Havasu City. She was born July 28, 1959, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Malcolm and Gertrude (Cronin) Ferguson, becoming the younger sister to Roberta Ferguson. Anita moved to Lake Havasu City two years ago, coming from Florida. Her mother was a homemaker and her father was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force. She later married James Butteri and together they had two children, Michelle and Laura Butteri in the early 80's. Anita's children were her pride and joy. She was plagued with so many struggles along the way, but she always barreled through them with her head held high and tackled her demons head on. Anita was a person to be admired in a lot of ways. She was so smart and open-minded and truly had a gift when it came to writing. She had great insight on many things and was her daughter Laura's favorite confidant and she always admired Michelle's strength and success. She was truly proud to have two successful daughters that loved and cherished her. She was over the moon when she found out her daughter, Laura, was going to make her a grandma for the first time. Laynee was born in April 2009 and soon after Laynee's birth, Anita made the move from her beloved St. Petersburg, Fla., to Lake Havasu City. She was nervous, scared and excited. Anita slipped right in here and with her normal bubbly self, she had no problems making new friends. She decided to enroll in college courses at MCC and was so proud to be one step closer to finally obtaining that college degree she always wanted. Anita would have wanted to thank everyone that took her into their hearts and let you know that you were all were very much loved back. She suffered from diabetes and she never really got used to her disease and struggled with it daily. We know that she is in a better place, happy and feeling healthy and sending her love to all of us who are mourning her sudden and tragic death. Thank you all. Anita is survived by her daughters, Michelle and Laura Butteri; sister, Roberta Ferguson; and granddaughter, Laynee Browning. She was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm and Gertrude Ferguson. Visitation will be held at Lake Havasu Mortuary Chapel Friday, from 5-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Michelle or Laura Butteri, C/O Lake Havasu Mortuary and Crematory, 2225 N.
