Verna Lee Puentes, age 93, a long-time resident of Willow Valley, Ariz., passed away Saturday, February 11, 2012, at the North Big Horn Hospital in Lovell, Wyo.
She was born in Creal Springs, Ill., on May 23, 1918, to Leroy and Tessie Jane Holmes.
During her younger years she volunteered in the PTA and as a teacher's aide, and was also a Girl Scout leader – She enjoyed helping children to learn.
Verna always enjoyed visits from family and friends. She loved to sew, crochet, knit and dance. She lived close to Laughlin, Nev., so the casinos were a pastime for fun and entertainment.
In 2008, Verna moved to Wyoming to live with her daughter Judy and her husband Greg.
She was preceded in death by first husband of 37 years, Floyd Hazel; second husband of 33 years, Mike Puentes; one brother; and nine sisters.
She is survived by her two children, Judy (Greg) Johnson of Lovell, Wyo., and Dean (Linda) Hazel of Bullhead City; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A private service will be held by the family with interment at the Needles Riverview Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the care of Haskell Mortuary in Lovell, Wyo., and Dimond & Sons Mortuary in Bullhead City, Ariz.
