SIERRA, SR., Fred (Grandpa)

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, AZ Sunday, February 19, 2012 Fred Sierra Sr., Fred peacefully passed away on February 15, 2012 at the age of 90. He was a World War II Veteran who was pre-deceased by his wife of 67 years, Eva Sierra. Fred was living in El Mirage, AZ although his heart was always in Wickenburg. Fred is survived by one son, 3 grandkids, 8 great-grandkids and 7 great-great grandkids. Fred will always be remembered for his love of fishing, hunting, listening to music and spending time with family & friends where he was always the life of the party. A memorial service will be held to celebrate Fred's life on 2/24/12 at 10 a.m. at Phoenix Memorial Park & Mortuary at 200 W. Beardsley Rd, Phx, AZ followed by his burial at the Veteran's Cemetery located at 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd. There will be a reception following services. ~~~~~~~~ The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona Wednesday, February, 22, 2012 Fred “Grandpa” Sierra went to be with the Lord on Feb. 15. He was born in Mexico on Jan. 5, 1922. A World War II veteran, Grandpa and his beloved wife Eva Sierra moved to Wickenburg after his retirement as a U.S. postal carrier. Always up for an adventure, he loved hunting, fishing, and never met a person he didn’t like. While here, he enjoyed a comfortable retirement surrounded by friends and family. He was preceded in death by his wife Eva M. Sierra and brother Ray “Uncle Monchie” and aunt Theresa Sierra. He is survived by his brother Tony (Elizabeth) Sierra and sister Christina (the late Alfred) Mesa; son Fred (Maria) Sierra; grandchildren Ernie (Marie) Sierra, Tony (Susie) Sierra, and Eva (Eddie) Perez; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Friday (Feb. 24) at Phoenix Memorial Park and Mortuary, 200 W. Beardsley Road, Phoenix AZ 85027. Viewing is from 10 to 11 a.m. and the service is from 11 to 12:30 p.m. Graveside services to follow at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 N. Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
