The Prescott Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, Nov. 19, 1974 Austin Grimes Died Saturday Austin S. Grimes, 81, died at the Whipple VA Hospital Saturday. He was born on Aug. 30, 1893 in Clifton and had lived in Arizona all his life. He was assistant secretary of state under Jim Kirby in the 1930s and was a member of the Arizona Historical Society for many years. He was a sergeant major in the Army during World War I. Survivors include his widow, Florence, of Prescott; two step-daughters, Mrs. Margaret Graham, of Prescott, and Mrs. Billie Dindinger, of Port Hueneme, Calif. Services were held at Memory Chapel with cremation following at Mountain View Crematory.
