Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Thursday, February 23, 2012 Eldemira Findlay ELDEMIRA (ELDY) PORTILLO FINDLAY, 83, of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away peacefully with family by her side on February 16, 2012 in Flagstaff. She was born to Jesus Portillo and Leonor Lopez in Los Angeles, California on April 28, 1928. Eldy is survived by her son Richard, daughter Cynthia Neigebauer and one granddaughter, Nicole Neigebauer. She is also survived by her siblings, Alicia O'Campo, Loretto Jacquez and Lucy (Joe) Arredondo and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her spouse, Frank Findlay and brother, David Portillo. Eldy lived most of her life in Flagstaff. She was a championship bowler, she loved being in the outdoors camping and fishing. She was most recognized as a cashier at Safeway. She was a 4-H leader which included running the display for Coconino County Fair; a seamstress and an avid gardener. She will be most remembered by her generosity to her family and friends. All that she accomplished was with an eleventh grade education. FRANCIS (FRANK) MCRAE FINDLAY JR. 69, died May 18, 1998. He was born in Boston, MA to the father Dr. Francis McRae Findlay Sr. and mother Louis Hazard on February 27, 1929. He is survived by daughter Cynthia, granddaughter Nicole Neigebauer and son Richard Findlay, Frank is also survived by sisters Martha Lee and Anne Roberts. He was preceded in death by his Father Dr. Francis McRae Findlay, mother Louis Hazard and stepmother Ruth Findlay, brother John M. Findlay and Sisa; Frank's twin sister who passed in childhood. Francis wore many hats in his life time. Frank received his B.S. Degree at Arizona State University in Elementary Education, completed Officer Candidate School. After returning from service in the Air Force, he taught at South Beaver Elementary School. He later obtained a B.S. Degree in Engineering at the University Of Arizona. He became an Assistant Civil Engineer for the City of Flagstaff. Frank also worked as a Civil Engineer for Pima County, then in an engineering firm in Denver, Colorado. He was active with the Boy Scouts and the Civil Air Patrol. His hobbies were fishing and traveling the United States. He was an activist in educating people about the effect of zero population growth on the world. Memorial services will be held for both Frank and Eldy Findlay at Norvel Owens Mortuary. 914 E Route 66. Flagstaff, AZ Saturday February 25 at 5 pm.
