GAMBS, John R. (Jack)

Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Thursday, February 23, 2012 John R Gambs is father to Rosemary Lamberson (Mark) and grandfather of Bret (Brigit) and Lisa Lamberson (Ben Shaffer). Known to most as Jack, he lived a full and adventure filled life to the age of 91 years old. But as he and his family know, you're only as old as you act. Jack served in WWII in Patton's Army and was awarded both the Bronze and Silver Stars for valor. The War was pivotal in his life, as it defined the importance of a human life and Jack was steadfast to that impression each day. Major John R Gambs will proudly be buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C. Jack was married to the one true love of his life, Joan R Eberle in 1943. He worked in sales most of his life, although his true passion was anything in nature. He spent his leisure time as an avid outdoorsman, golf cart driver, boatman, and pilot. Jack's positive spirit, unquenchable thirst for knowledge, sharp wit and joy of life will be missed by all. Jack is survived and celebrated by his wife, three children, eight grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. An ongoing celebration of his life will be carried out by all who love him.
