SWEENEY, Andrea Anderson

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Thursday, February 23, 2012 - Surrounded by family, friends and her grandchildren, Andrea Sweeney passed away at her home in Lake Havasu City Feb. 18, 2012. She was born and raised in Newark, N.J., where she met and married the love of her life, Peter C. Sweeney, and together they had three children. Better known to friends and family as “Andie,” she will be immensely missed. Andie loved to play the slots (Wheel of Fortune) and would go to Laughlin whenever the chance would arise. Sports was another interest. She loved tennis, golf, NASCAR (Jimmy Johnson) and football — and being the avid Dallas Cowboys fan that she was, added that much more excitement to football season. There was never a dull moment when she was around. She was loved by all. To know her was to love her and to love her was a blessing. She was an amazing woman in her own right for what she had endured, how she persevered and how she was an inspiration and example of strength. She leaves behind two children, Thomas (Lisa) Sweeney and Kelly Tucker, both of Lake Havasu City; four grandchildren, Kyle Tucker, Kaitlyn Sweeney, Courtney Davis and Sean Sweeney (plus one pseudo-grandchild, Robert Alsum); sister, Chris Milici (Vito); nephews, Bobby Milici and Andrew Ostrowski; nieces, Karen Milici Palmiero, MaryAnn Milici, Lisa Ostrowski Baccary, Colleen Sweeney Lundquist, of N.J., and Heather Sweeney Rudolph, of Orlando, Fla. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Peter; daughter, Maureen; brother, Ian; and most recently her sister, Janette. At her request, there will be no public service; instead a “Celebration of Her Life” will be at her son’s home Saturday, at 2 p.m. We invite you, her extended family and friends, old and new to help her family to celebrate and remember her life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Andie’s name to American Heart Association, 2929 S. 48th St. Tempe, AZ 85282. Thoughts and condolences can be sent to Andie’s family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were place under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
