Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, Arizona Thursday, February 23, 2012 Gilbert E. (Gib) Weiss born July 30, 22, died peacefully at home in Flagstaff, AZ on February 11, 2012. Born in Jeffersonville, N.Y. Graduate of Jeffersonville Central School, Maryville College in TN and Syracuse University. Married for more than 50 years to Eleanor (Ebbie) Ebeling. Gib is survived by a son Peter and his wife Judy and son Richard and his wife Mary and their daughters Emily and Abbie. Also survived by nephews Jack Weiss (Flagstaff, AZ), Ray Weiss (OR), Michael Rock (VA) and Mary (Rock) Bradbury (MA). Predeceased by his wife Eleanor, brother Elliott and sister Marilyn (Rock). Owned and operated Jeff Dairy in the 1950¹s (later sold to Max Yasgur of famous Woodstock music festival) and worked in NYC several years as an accountant, then worked in the office and was CEO of First Nat. Bank of Jeffersonville for 30 years. A cryptographer in the USAF in World War II, serving in Australia and other South Pacific locations. Lifelong member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jeffersonville and a member of the American Legion, VFW, Lion¹s Club and Masonic lodge. Gib was active in community affairs and volunteered service for Habitat for Humanity, the Salvation Army and the Boy Scouts both in Jeffersonville and Beach Lake, PA where he moved after retirement. Gib made his home for the past 8 years with his son Pete and his wife Judy in Flagstaff, AZ. He spent his days marveling at the changing views of the San Francisco Peaks from his recliner, playing crossword puzzles, computer bridge and family games of scrabble. He loved pets and cared for chickens in his time in Flagstaff and enjoyed his nightly Gibson martini. He was always appreciative of the home and care he had, never forgetting to say thank you. He will be greatly missed. Donations can be made in his name at Habitat for Humanity. Celebration of life on March 17 at 4PM at the Weiss home in Flagstaff.
