James (Jim) W. Smithart passed away on February 21, 2012 at the Arizona Pioneer’s Home in Prescott.
Jim was born on July 19, 1926 in Glendale, Arizona and lived in Arizona his entire life.
He is survived by his sister Virginia Thomas: his step-sons Byron (Metcalf) and Robert Gene (Metcalf); step-daughter in-law Shawn Cardinal; and many step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Jim was a US Navy veteran and served in WW II and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. He was an active member of the LDS Church and was devoted to a life of service and helping others in any way that he could.
Jim was known by his family and friends as a strong man, a good neighbor, a loving and generous soul, a good-hearted story-teller and an Arizona historian.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to a charitable cause of choice.

James "Jim" W. Smithart, 85, of Prescott, Ariz., born July 19, 1926, in Glendale, Ariz., passed away Feb. 21, 2012.
Visitation is noon with services at 1 p.m. March 3, 2012 at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St. in Prescott. Burial will be at the Arizona Pioneers Home Cemetery on Iron Springs Road in Prescott.
