James Thomas "Jim" Gish, age 68, a 10-year resident of Fort Mohave, Ariz., passed away at home on Friday, February 17, 2012.
He was born February 24, 1943, in Henderson, Ky., to James Y. and Naomi Gish. Jim graduated from Henderson High School in 1962, and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Jim worked for E. J. & E. Railroad as a switchman for 30 years. While employed at the railroad, Jim met his wife, Mollie, at an auction -- she was the auctioneer. She suggested that Jim become one too, so he went to school, and became an auctioneer for 16 years before they retired to Fort Mohave.
Jim belonged to the Colorado River Treasure Seekers, and was President for three years. He also belonged to many other clubs.
Jim was a wonderful person and a proud Marine. He loved everyone, and they loved him.
He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
Jim is survived by his wife of 16 years, Mollie (Proffer) Gish; daughter, Anna (Doug); son, Chris; two brothers, Don and Charles; six sisters, Beverly, Lucille, Linda, Tiny, Sharon, Martha; four grandsons, Christopher, Nicholas, Matthew and Bobby; and one great-granddaughter, Lilly.
A U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard Service will be presented at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2012, at Desert Lawn Funeral Home, 9250 S. Ranchero Lane, Mohave Valley, Ariz.
Following the service, family and friends will gather at his home in Fort Mohave.
