Jack Lloyd Yocum, age 69, a 15-year resident of Mohave Valley, Ariz., passed away on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz., after a brief illness.
Jack was born March 5, 1942, in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Lloyd and Francis Yocum. His family moved to Dairy Valley, Calif. when he was a young child. In 1960, he graduated from Western High School, and went on to serve as a police officer for a brief time.
In 1967, he began what would turn out to be a rewarding career, working for Southern California Edison. He retired as a Superintendent in 1997.
After retiring, Jack and his wife, Lynda, left the rat race of Southern California to enjoy the slower pace of life in Willow Valley, Ariz.
Hunting and fishing had always been enjoyable to Jack. Then he discovered the ultimate thrill... becoming "Granddad" to Montana Paige (13) and Dakota Merrill (12) of Roy, Utah, and his namesake, Tanner Jack (4) of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.
Thanks, Granddad, for all the pillow and water fights, endless games of marbles, and ice cream at Mono Cone. But most of all, thanks for teaching us to fish and love nature.
Jack's only regret in life would have been not living long enough to give Tanner the same memories.
Jack will be greatly missed but never forgotten by his family, friends, and his "BOYS," Jake and Charlie.
Jack is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lynda; two sons, Rodney (Vickie) of Huntsville, Ala., and Brian (Arlean) of Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.; daughter, Michelle (Ed) Terry of Roy, Utah; sister, Loretta Malone of Oakdale, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane,
I would walk right up to heaven and bring you back again.
A celebration of Jack's life will be held at 12:00 p.m. (AZ time) Wednesday, February, 29, 2012, at First Southern Baptist Church, 1421 Commercial St., Mohave Valley.
